Tommy Lee-5-1024x1024Lee was born Thomas Lee Bass on October 3rd, 1962 in Athens, Greece, to father David Lee Thomas Bass, an American U.S. Army sergeant, and mother Vassiliki "Voula" Papadimitriou (Greek: Basilike Papademetriou), an actress on the 1957 Miss Greece beauty contest. Athena is his older sister, and also a drummer. When Lee was approximately two years[4aged, his father moved his family back to United States, settling in California.Lee got his first drum sticks when he was four years old. He received the first real drum set when he reached the age of teenager. Lee quit high school in order to pursue music as a career starting with Suite 19, a L.A.-based group that was a club. In his teen years was listening to Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Cheap Trick, Kiss, AC/DC and Sweet. John Bonham, Tommy Aldridge and Alex Van Halen were his primary drumming influencers. Terry Bozzio has also been an important influence.
